  • Who Should Plant Churches?

Besides the 13 characteristics stated in the video, are there characteristics that have not been mentioned here that you feel are important?

As you think of others who have planted a church, what specific characteristic was evident or not evident in the church planter’s ministry?

Remember to write your thoughts here and then reply to two others who have also written their thoughts here.

I believe all 13 characteristics are essential. So did Dr. Ridley. For this reason, if a church planter does not exhibit the 13, then we ought to consider whether this person is truly called to plant a church. What do the rest of you think?

The characteristics are well mentioned and essential. I feel blessed with every point mentioned. <div>

Number five point has really touched me.. I need spousal support to do ministry..

What’s very clear is that one has to be called by God for the work. In God’s work, you cannot call yourself, there must be a force of God’s power to service.

I concur with the 13 characteristics for a church planter. May be since we are in 21st century, technological knowledge may be an added advantage in this era. Example during COVID-19 physical evangelism was reduced almost to nil. Those who embraced online services managed to stand. A good number of those who only embraced physical service almost died.

I know of some men of God who embarked on praying and fasting before a new church was planted.Prayer prepared the ground and souls were harvested en masse during open air crusades.

Some ministries did not last for long due to ” holier-than- thou” attitude exhibited by the founders. They were left alone with a skeleton membership. Some men of God who went to evangelize alone leaving their sposes behind backslid due to falling into extramarital affairs.Spousal involvement is a deterrent to such temptations.

I have also seen churches disintegrate due to greed from the preschers who amass every wealth received and they forget to open a church account. Lack of considering colleagues in the Ministry when dividing what is received from the faithful has made good team members to run away.

This teaching has become an eye opener to me and I pray for God’s grace to abound.
